Film Club

In 2013 Heage Primary School won the award for 'Film Club of the Year'.  This was an amazing achievement considering 7000 schools were involved. On the back of this success many of our pupils have been involved in the film and television industry, interviewing celebrities such as Kermit the Frog, Danny Devitto,  Sir David Attenborough, Helen Mirren and many other.  One child has even flown to LA to interview the director of the movie 'Planes'.  We are currently working alongside filmakers to produce our own short videos.

Sports Development (Body Smart)

The school aims to provide excellent provision in physical education and sport.  Through sport we want to develop the confidence, self esteem, physical skills, social skills and personal health and fitness of all our children.  We currently employ an outstanding coach from First Grade Sports to work in partnership with our teachers to provide the outstanding PE lessons.  The coach also provides before, lunchtime and after school clubs across a range of sports.

The school has been awarded the Silver School Games Medal for its commitment to providing high quality PE and extra curricular activities.

Clubs run throughout the year and include the following:

Football, Athletics, Dance, Fencing, Cricket, Netball, Table Tennis Multi-Sports, Tough Runner.

At lunchtime our team of Mini-Leaders run a range of activities to support children's healthy lifestyles.

Currently every child in KS2 runs / briskly walks a daily mile as we continue our efforts to be a healthy school.

Musical Development (Music Smart)

All children have the opportunity to learn an instrument at Heage.  We work alongside the music partnership to provide a stimulating and creative musical experience for children. Year-long whole-class instrumental sessions are delivered by specially trained music teachers (children are learning brass instruments this year). Sessions include activities to develop the broad musical and specific instrumental skills and to append the development of confidence, co-ordination, listening and team working skills.

The pupils then have the opportunity to continue brass lessons in year 5 and 6.

Children also have the opportunity to learn and play other instruments in small groups, pairs or individually.  Instruments include guitar, flute, clarinet, saxophone, and keyboard.

The school also has a choir which is led by our very musical higher level teaching assistant.  They sing at school events and at the local church at events such as Harvest Festival and Christmas celebrations.

Pi and Chips Club

The school has started a coding club called 'Pi and Chips' and purchased 10 Raspberry Pi computers with money from the Raspberry Pi Foundation and the PTFA.  Click on the icon below to find out more!
