Keeping Safe

Sun Safe Schools

We have registered to be a 'Sun Safe' school and feel that we have a responsibility to help children stay safe in the sun.  We want children to enjoy the outdoors safely at all times of the year.

Children are required to wear hats from March to the end of September when UV levels can be damaging to the skin.

We are trying to promote the 5 S's incorporating SLIP, SLOP, SLAP.

Slip on a T-shirt to keep shoulders and upper arms covered to prevent from burning,      If possible wear clothing with UV protection.

Slop on a good quality sunscreen with SPF 30+ UVB protection and a broad spectrum UVA rating, ideally 4 star plus, making sure you apply generously and reapply every 2 hours.

Slap on a broad brimmed or legionnaire sun hat that shades your face, neck and ears.

Sunglasses – Wear quality wrap-around sunglasses with good UV protection, to protect your eyes from the Sun’s rays.

Shade - Seek shade, particularly when the sun is at it's strongest between 11am - 3pm.
