Forest School
Our Vision for Forest School
At Heage Primary School, quite simply, our intention is that every pupil, irrelevant of needs or age, has the opportunity to develop a real passion for nature and the great outdoors! We want our children to develop an appreciation of the natural world which fills them with a desire to protect our increasingly fragile world.
Forest School is also a period of sessions, one term per year, where we want children to challenge themselves, embrace their uniqueness, develop independence, confidence and resilience.
Forest School is a place where we want children to feel respected, valued and empowered to engage in activities of their choosing, take measured risks and develop new skills.
Our outdoor environment at Heage Primary School, particularly Windmill Woods, is an inspiring environment where we want our children to nurture their individual strengths: applying previously acquired knowledge and skills to their own self-directed play whilst also exploring independently on a journey of self-discovery.
No two sessions are the same, but our intention is that every child and adult who has the privilege of taking part in a Forest Schools session goes away feeling invigorated, calm and overwhelmingly happy.
