At Heage primary school, we believe that English is the key to unlocking a world of imagination, communication, and confidence. Through exciting lessons in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, we help children build the skills they need for learning, for life, and for sharing their own unique voice.

We believe in helping children become independent learners who are curious, creative, and ready to explore the world through language. Whether it’s writing stories, reading for pleasure, or speaking with confidence, our aim is to help every child grow into a lifelong learner who loves English and feels proud of their progress.

Our passion for reading can also be seen in our everyday DEAR sessions. These sessions are timetabled so that the children have a story, from a quality text, read to them three times a week, along with a day when they share a book of their own choice and a day of silent reading, again with a book they want to read for pleasure.
