Intent & Implementation

Our Curriculum Intention

At Heage Primary we aim to provide our pupils with a curriculum that gives them a positive sense of who they are, and where they belong both within their local community and the wider world.

Woven throughout our rich curriculum are our core values of kindness, respect, resilience, compassion, honesty and teamwork. We provide opportunities for our children to practice and develop these values throughout their time at Heage with the aim of preparing and equipping them for future challenges in a rapidly changing world. We aim to nurture and enable our children to be independent thinkers who are able to transfer their learning into the real world.

During their time at Heage, we will work relentlessly for our children to have high aspirations and from this we aim to inspire a lifelong love of learning and challenge, so our children can reach their full potential.

By the time our children leave Heage Primary at the end of Year 6, our aim is that they will:

  • Have the knowledge, skills and attitudes to think critically and creatively, and thrive in a rapidly changing world.
  • Appreciate the importance of maintaining a fit and healthy body and mind.
  • Feel responsibility not only for themselves but to other people.
  • Feel empowered and have ambitions and aspirations no matter what their personal circumstances.
  • Respect and celebrate people for their individuality, cultures and beliefs.
  • Have compassion for other people, particularly those who suffer social injustices, have a disadvantaged start in life or live with a disability.
  • Have the confidence and resilience to use their initiative to take risks and be creative.
  • Appreciate the importance of teamwork in successfully working towards common goals and do this with integrity and pride.
  • Have the leadership skills and confidence in who they are to prepare them for their journey into the next phase of their lives.
