Forest Schools

Forest School sessions take place weekly in Reception, year 1 and year 3. All other year groups access the woods whenever it fits with their curriculum.

Forest School offers ALL learners opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees. Children have access to the outdoor environment and learn about taking care of themselves, each other and the world around us.

In Forest School sessions, children see the changing environment throughout the year and learn to appreciate how our natural world changes over time.

Forest School is a specialised learning approach that sits within and complements the wider context of outdoor and woodland education.

At Heage we have our own woodland learning area with a fire pit, seating area, paths and an outdoor classroom.
